The hundred year old man who climbed out of his window and disappeared
Allan Carlsson is a newly centenarian on a run from the authorities.
He is portrayed as a simple soul who weathers difficult conditions. All while keeping a "oh well what can ya do" attitude. His philosophy is "things are what they are and whatever will be will be" (ch.4). This takes him across the Himalayas into the dining rooms of various world leaders.
I read this book as a cure for "failure to seize the day"as prescribed by
The Novel Cure: From Abandonment to Zestlessness: 751 Books to Cure What Ails You by Ella Berthoud & Susan Elderkin
And I like to think it was effective... might need another dose.
